Virginia Union University's Aisha Berkley had 11 kills, but Chowan University was able to down the Lady Panthers 24-26, 25-12, 25-12, 25-11 in women's volleyball action on October 28 in Barco-Stevens Hall.

The match was the 2010 home finale for the Lady Panthers, who said good-bye to seniors Valeria Cantu, Sherrita Ward, Lashira Williams (above) and Cheri Wynn.

VUU's Kierris Doyle had 22 assists and nine defensive digs in the match.

Williams had seven kills and seven digs while Berkley and Jessica Thompson also had seven digs apiece.

The loss dropped VUU to 8-18 overall on the season and 7-10 in CIAA play.  

Chowan, the defending CIAA champions, raised their record to 14-2 overall and 8-2 in CIAA play.

Despite the loss, the Lady Panthers have still qualified for the CIAA Volleyball Championship, to be played November 5-7 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va.

The Lady Panthers finished in fourth place of the CIAA's Northern Division with a 7-10 conference record.
