NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Virginia Union University's Marquis Davis (6-0/245/JR/Richmond, VA) won the shot put competition at the 2008 CIAA Indoor Track Championships with a throw of 13.99 meters (45-10.75). Davis is also a member of the VUU football team, which claimed the 2007 CIAA Eastern Division Championship.  Teammate Kevin Dykes, followed him up with a second place finish in the same competition with a throw of 13.34 meters (43-09.25). 

VUU's Melvin Edison, who is also a member of the football team, took third place in the 60 Meter hurdles (8.29), while Tarian Donaldson claimed a fourth place finish in the 60 Meter Dash (6.95).

Geoffrey Langat placed in two events, with a second place finish in the 5,000 Meter Run (16:10.45) and a fifth place finish in the 1 Mile Run (4:39.86).
