Frederick C. Burroughs

Frederick C.  Burroughs is entering his second season as the assistant  Men's Basketball Coach for Virginia Union University. Burroughs posses 24 years of collegiate coaching experience to include Men's and Women's Basketball and Softball.   His coaching experience has culminated  in winning the 2003 CIAA Championship with the Men's Basketball team at Bowie State University (Assistant Coach).   Won the 2007 and 2008 CIAA Championship with the Softball Team at Bowie State University  (Head Coach).   Burroughs was also named the 2007  Coach  of the Year by the CIAA.  In addition, he recruited two CIAA Players of the Year. (Men's Basketball).  And two time CIAA Softball Player of the Year. 
 
During his four years at Columbia Union College, Burroughs served as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach and the Women's Head Basketball Coach.  In 1992, the Men's Basketball Team went NAIA National Tournament.  Under his leadership, In 1997, the Women's Basketball Team placed first runner up in the Women's District Finals and recruited a two time All American
 
During an earlier tenure for three years at Bowie State University, Burroughs helped develop the Bowie  Women's Basketball Dynasty that won three CIAA Championships in a row.  Collaborating with the legendary Coach, Ed Davis. 
 
Having the opportunity in four years to assist and train under the talented Coach Wil Jones at the University of The District of Columbia and Norfolk State University,  they recruited a Division  II All American and two MEAC players of the year. 
 
Later, reuniting with Ed Davis at Delaware State University coaching the Women's Basketball Team.  Recruiting strong female athletes for four years under Coach Davis regime.
 
Upon Leaving Delaware State University, Burroughs took his coaching talents to West Virginia State University where he assisted Coach Bryan Poore reestablishing recruiting in the DMV area.  He signed JuCo All American Markee Mazyck and 10 other players from the area in three years.
 
Burroughs was born in New York, New York.  He is a graduate of Rice High School.  And competed in basketball and cross country. 
 
Burroughs earned his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Belford University in Houston, Texas. 
 
Burroughs resides in Richmond, Virginia  and is the proud father of three daughters, LaTonya,  LaTesha,  and India.  And the grand father to four beautiful grand children.
