ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Virginia Union University women's basketball team earned a strong conference road victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Elizabeth City State University, 72–59.
The Lady Panthers used a balanced offensive effort and strong execution down the stretch to pull away in the second half and secure the win.

Martinez recorded a double-double to lead Virginia Union, controlling the paint and providing key baskets throughout the contest. Nix and Blackwell also finished in double figures as VUU saw contributions from across the lineup.

Virginia Union maintained control for much of the contest, using efficient shooting and disciplined defense to keep Elizabeth City State at bay. The Lady Panthers capitalized on scoring opportunities and limited the Vikings' offensive rhythm, particularly in the second half.
