The University of Virginia Track Meet was a great experience for the Virginia Union University Men's Track and Field Team! The Panthers went up against some of the best Division I athletes and still performed exceptionally well.
Antonio Smith finished top 4 overall in the 110m hurdles, breaking his own school record with a time of 14.05 seconds.
Rodgers Korir broke the 1500m school record with a time of 3:58.04, surpassing the previous record held by Franklin Kipchirchir, which was set just a month ago. It was exciting to see Rodgers coming into form performances like this show he has the potential to be one of the top athletes in the entire conference.
Carson Calhoun also had an outstanding day, setting a personal best in the high jump at 6'5", which currently ranks him top 2 overall in the conference.
"We were likely the only Division II team at the University of Virginia meet, and the experience was invaluable," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "The team gained great exposure, and some of them will soon have another incredible opportunity as we head to the Penn Relays."
The Men's Track & Field Team will compete in the Penn Relays on April 24-26 in Philadelphia, Pa.
