Virginia Union University opened its 2025 home softball season on Wednesday, March 5, at the VUU Softball Field in Richmond, Va. Unfortunately, the Lady Panthers were defeated 5-0 by Chestnut Hill College.
Brandy Roberts, the starting pitcher for VUU, took the loss in the contest. However, Skylar Rosenbaum, who came in as a relief pitcher, impressed by striking out two batters and allowing no earned runs in four innings of work.
Head Coach
Dominique Mulero commented on the team's performance:
"We came out flat yesterday as a whole! We have to do a better job of finding ways to score runs; we cannot win games without scoring. We did put the ball in play but couldn't find the gaps. Our pitching staff is doing a great job, but they can't do it alone. We need to step up on defense and make the routine plays. We're making our pitchers throw way too many pitches every inning. Offensively, we have to find ways to put runs on the board!"
The Lady Panthers will look to bounce back in their next game, a doubleheader against Georgian Court University on Monday, March 10.
