The Virginia Union University men's basketball team has earned the Freddie T. Vaughan High GPA Award, it was announced at the CIAA Tournament Banquet on Sunday, February 23, in Baltimore, Md.

The award is given annually to the CIAA men's basketball team which has the highest team grade point average (GPA).

"Congratulations to our men's basketball team for winning the Freddie Vaughan CIAA GPA award." said Dr. Sharonda Ragland, Faculty Athletic Representative at Virginia Union University.  "Virginia Union empowers students through academic excellence and our men's basketball team demonstrated they are champions in the classroom."

Virginia Union will face Shaw University in the opening round of the CIAA Tournament at 8:50 p.m. On Tuesday, February 25, in Baltimore, Md.
