MILLERSVILLE, PA -
— Virginia Union University delivered an energized defensive performance on Saturday, using relentless pressure and strong interior play to secure a decisive road win and bounce back from their early-season setback.
From the opening tip, the Panthers set the tone with active hands, ball pressure, and disciplined rotations that created transition opportunities and easy baskets at the other end. VUU opened the game on a fast start and never looked back, controlling the momentum throughout the first half and maintaining that intensity after the break.
Sophomore forward
Malachi Dark anchored the paint, finishing consistently around the rim and providing a strong interior presence.
Elijah Scranton also made a major impact, pulling down key rebounds while applying suffocating defensive pressure that helped disrupt the opponent's rhythm.
Head Coach
Jay Butler praised his team's response and energy following the victory.
"I thought we bounced back today and came out with a lot of energy on the defensive end of the court that translated into easy baskets for us early on the offensive end," Butler said.
"We wanted to get the ball inside to our post players today, and Malachi Dark came on strong finishing around the basket. I was also very impressed with Elijah Scranton with his rebounding and relentless defensive pressure. This was a good win going back home for our home opener on Tuesday against the No. 11-ranked team in the country, West Liberty University."
