Ashlee Franklin recorded 91 assists, 10 service aces, 42 defensive digs and seven blocks as VUU came away with a 2-2 record at the Chowan Volleyball Invite, held on September 13-14 in Murfreesboro, N.C.
On Friday, September 13, VUU lost to host Chowan 3-1 but rebounded and defeated Auburn University at Montgomery 3-0.
On Saturday, September 14, Virginia Union lost to Lander University 3-0 but then shocked Chowan in five games, winning 3-2.

Alana Simmons had 58 kills, 10 aces and 54 digs in the four matches.
"I am so proud of the way we fought this weekend to go 2-2," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Danielle Perry. "The girls persevered through and won the 5-set battle against Chowan. We have a few key things to work on but excited for the trajectory we are on."
Virginia Union is now 3-6 on the season and will now travel to Mount Olive, N.C., to face the University of Mount Olive at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17.
