Virginia Union University's
Tahj Harding scored 17 points, but Fayetteville State University defeated the Panthers 53-51 in the semi-finals of the 2024 CIAA Tournament on Friday, March 1, in Baltimore, Md.
VUU's
Jonathan King led the Panthers on the boards with nine rebounds.
"I've got to tip my hat to Fayetteville State," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "Two very good defensive teams came out to play tonight. They made plays when they needed to down the stretch. I thought when we had the lead in the second half, I thought we could have extended it a little more with our young guys. This has been a rollercoaster season for us all year, but our guys fought all year."
VUU finishes the season with a 14-18 record overall.
