Virginia Union University's Jonathan Salazar scored 15 points as VUU defeated Elizabeth City State University 60-50 on Wednesday, February 21, in Elizabeth City, N.C.

VUU's Tahj Harding scored 10 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.

Virginia Union's Kaylen Vines added 10 points in the win over the Vikings.

"This was a big win for us on the road against a hot Elizabeth City State team that was playing really well going into this game," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  "I thought we did a great job on their three-point shooters tonight and anytime we can keep teams under 60 points means we have a great chance to win.  Jonathan Salazar did a good job of controlling the paint tonight on both ends of the court. Tahj struggled tonight offensively, but he rebounded the ball, made free throws, and got some key steals down the stretch to secure the win."

Virginia Union will now face Virginia State University in the finale of the 2023-24 regular season at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, in Petersburg, Va.
