Virginia Union University's DJ Mitchell scored a team-high 17 points to lead VUU to a 69-53 win over Livingstone College on Monday, December 16, in Salisbury, N.C.

VUU's Jonathan King scored 14 points while teammate Jonathan Salazar scored 10 points in the win.

Virginia Union's Keysean Faulkner-Smith led the Panthers on the boards with nine rebounds.

"It feels good to get the win tonight against a very good Livingstone College team," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  "I thought our seniors, Keysean Faulkner Smith, DJ Mitchell, Jonathan King, and Jonathan Salazar, stepped up and made some big plays throughout the game.  I also thought our freshman backcourt of Kennard (KJ) Wyche and Jamari Garnett did a good job as well. KJ played a good floor game and Jamarri shot the ball really well from the 3-point line."

Virginia Union will now return home to face Fairmont State University at 3:00 p.m. On Wednesday, December 18, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
