Cox's Career-High Propels Lady Panthers to Win over WSSU

Virginia Union University's Rori Cox scored a career-high 24 points to propel the Lady Panthers to a 70-53 win over Winston-Salem State University on Thursday, December 12, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Cox also had a game-high eight rebounds as the Lady Panthers improved to 7-3 this season.

Virginia Union's Nevaeh Reaves added 12 points as VUU held Winston-Salem State to just 23 points in the second half.

"In the second half we came together as a team and finished the game," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry.  WSSU is a very personal game for me, and I am proud of our young women for fighting so hard at the Gaines Center. Rori Cox played spectacular and finished with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Nevaeh Reaves also had an impressive game with 12 points and 3 rebounds. Tatiana Jones' 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists were a major contributor to our win as well. We regrouped after halftime and fought hard to win together."

Virginia Union now returns to Barco-Stevens Hall to face Virginia University of Lynchburg at 2:00 p.m. On Saturday, December 14.
