Taniyah Greene recorded a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds as the Lady Panthers downed the University of Mount Olive 74-47 on Wednesday, November 20, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Rori Cox added 11 points while
Tatiana Jones grabbed nine rebounds.
The Lady Panthers' defense forced Mount Olive into 36 turnovers, the most ever for a
Tierra Terry-coached VUU team.
"This win was a great team effort," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. Mount Olive is a tough, well-coached team and we put in extra prep time for them. The most impressive stats that we had was we dished off 16 assists and forced 36 turnovers. Coach Freeman has done a phenomenal job making our defensive intensity a huge part of our identity.
Taniyah Greene had a huge game with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Kennedee Matthews shot a solid 50% from the 3-point line,
Tatiana Jones had five assists and nine steals, and
Brittini Martin also contributed five assists. We are really proud of our young ladies and will take some time to recover and prepare for UDC."
Virginia Union will now face the University of the District of Columbia at 12:00 p.m. On Saturday, November 30, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.Â
