Virginia Union University's
Taniyah Greene scored her 1,000th career point, but Emory & Henry College beat the Lady Panthers 74-65 on Saturday, November 16, in Emory, Va.
Greene, VUU's
Nevaeh Reaves and
Brittini Martin led the Lady Panthers by scoring 14 points apiece in the game.
Greene also led the Lady Panthers on the boards with nine rebounds.
"We did not execute the defensive game plan consistently against a very disciplined Emory & Henry team," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We made a strong run and fought to stay in the game, but we made too many late errors and could not recover. We want to congratulate
Taniyah Greene on scoring 1,000 points in her college career and kudos to grad student
Brittini Martin for being the spark plug we needed and having a great game today. We have to be better for our next opponent."
Virginia Union will now open up the home portion of the 2024-25 season when the Lady Panthers face the University of Mount Olive at 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, November 20, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
