Virginia Union University's
Tahj Harding scored his 1,000th career point while tallying 18 points and dished off seven assists as VUU defeated the University of the District of Columbia 66-52 on Saturday, November 16, in Washington, D.C.
VUU's
Che Evans added 16 points while teammate
Jonathan Salazar grabbed eight rebounds in the win.
The win kept Virginia Union undefeated on the season at 4-0.
"We came out in the first half really flat and UDC played with a lot of energy on their homecoming day," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. " We knew it was going to be a great crowd and a very good atmosphere for a basketball game. I thought in the second half we came out with a little more effort on the defensive end and that really got our offense going. I was impressed with the shooting from
Che Evans and
Tahj Harding. This is going to be a tough road trip, so we really wanted to come in and get this win before heading to West Virginia to take on Nationally ranked West Liberty and Charleston University. We are looking forward to the opportunity to play some of the top teams in the region this early in the season."
VUU will now travel West Liberty, W.V., to face West Liberty University at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, November 18.
