Alana Simmons led the Lady Panthers with 12 kills and five service aces to lead VUU to a 3-2 win over arch-rival Virginia State University on Monday, October 21, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Not only was it the first time since 2018 that the Lady Panthers had beat VSU, but it also ended a string of eight straight 3-0 wins that VSU had recorded against VUU.

"I'm proud of the ladies for pushing through and winning a tough five set match against Virginia State," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Danielle Perry. "I could not be more proud of them."
VUU will now travel to Petersburg, Va., to compete in the CIAA Round-Up, to be held at Virginia State University on Saturday, October 26, and Sunday, October 27.
