Virginia Union University's
Ny Langley had a strong second half enroute to scoring a team-high 17 points to lead the Lady Panthers to their third straight win, a 70-52 win over CIAA rival Bowie State University on Wednesday, January 24, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Bruni Martinez led the Lady Panthers with nine rebounds while also scoring 12 points.
VUU's
Nevaeh Reaves added 13 points in the win.
"Bowie always brings defensive intensity and energy so we went into this game planning for that," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We had some people step up big, but this was a great team victory. We had 13 assists and 13 steals, and you cannot do that without playing team basketball. We are super proud of the ladies for fighting and winning every quarter tonight. We have to bring this positive contagious energy for the rest of the season!"
VUU is now 13-6 overall and leads the Northern Division of the CIAA with a perfect 2-0 record.
Virginia Union will now travel to Bluefield, W.V., to face Bluefield State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27.
