Ashlee Franklin, a sophomore from Stafford, Va., who is majoring in Social Work, had 30 assists to lead the Lady Panthers to a 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22 win over Chowan University on Tuesday, September 19, in Murfreesboro, N.C.
The win raised VUU's record to 6-3 on the season and marked the third straight victory for the team.

Aireanna Johnson, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Tx., who is majoring in Psychology, led VUU with 13 kills while teammate
Alaysia Miller, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., who is majoring in Health Sciences, had 23 defensive digs.

Bethany Himalaya, a freshman from Kapolei, Hi., who is majoring in Criminal Justice, also had 10 kills and 20 digs while
Jaelyn Bedell, a senior from Kansas City, Mo., who is majoring in Psychology, had five blocks.
"I'm really proud of my Lady Panthers tonight," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Joe Sullivan. "Even though we were down three starters they showed a ton of grit and fought through adversity to come out with the win."
Virginia Union will now open the 2023 home season when the Lady Panthers take on Elizabeth City State University at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
