VUU Moves to 3-0 with 28-20 Win Over Livingstone

Virginia Union University's Rashard Jackson rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries as VUU ran it's record to 3-0 by defeating Livingstone College 28-20 on Saturday, September 16, in Salisbury, N.C.

VUU's defense came up big by intercepting three Blue Bear passes, including two in the end zone to preserve the win.  VUU's Ephraim Moore picked off a pair of Livingstone passes, including one in the end zone while teammate Donald Gatling stopped another Blue Bear drive by intercepting a pass in the end zone.

VUU's defensive line was also impressive.  The Panther defense held Livingstone to just 19 rushing yards, marking the second straight week the VUU defense held an opponent to less than 20 yards rushing.  Virginia Union held Shaw to just 14 rushing yards last week.

"It's a big win," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr. Alvin Parker.  "It's a road game and a conference win.  The guys played hard down the stretch and made some timely plays, and I was happy to see that."

VUU will open the 2023 home season when the Panthers take on Fayetteville State University at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, at Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
