Virginia Union University's women's and men's track & field teams traveled to St. Mary's City, Md., to compete in the Seahawk Invitational, hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday, April 1.
VUU's
Tiana Lugg won the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 26.16 seconds while
Ashley White won the women's 400-meter dash.
Virginia Union's
Kayla Lee won the women's 100-meter dash and the team of White, Lugg,
Christal Rolack and
Jade Lane placed second in the women's 4 x 100 relay.
Union's A'Qoyas Cody came in third in the women's javelin.
On the men's side, VUU's Jeremiah Jordan won the long jump and came in second in the triple jump.
VUU's Micah Kapruto placed third in the men's javelin and
Christopher Laws placed second in the men's 200-meter dash.
""We did very well today. Congratulations to all of our athletes," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Charles Franck. "They all really put their hearts out there, especially the ones that won their event. I am proud of them. We are going to rest next weekend and get ready for Norfolk State University invitational meet on April 15th."
Virginia Union will next compete in the NSU Invitational in Norfolk, Va.
