Virginia Union University's
Jade Lane and
Micah Kipruto surged to #1 in the CIAA after their performance at the NSU Invitational, held at Norfolk State University on Saturday, April 15, in Norfolk, Va.
Lane broke the VUU school-record in the javelin while Kipruto won the men's 5,000 meters.
"It was a lot of great talent at The Norfolk State University Invitational Meet," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Charles Franck. "We are happy to have been invited. Our teams had a chance to compete with some of the best out there, and we were still able to come out with a win in the 5,000m run with
Micah Kipruto.
Jade Lane broke the Javelin school record that once was held by S'Kaylah Woods (27.96m ) back in 2012. Jade threw 33.65m to place 4th this past weekend. That 33.65m ranks Jade number 1 in the CIAA. Micah ran 16:18 to rank number 1 in the 5,000m for the CIAA."
Virginia Union will now travel to Baltimore, Md., to compete in the Morgan State University Legacy Meet on Saturday, April 22.
