Track Competes at Lynchburg Meet

The Virginia Union University men's and women's track & field team traveled to the University of Lynchburg to compete in the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational, held on March 24-25, in Lynchburg, Va.

VUU's Christropher Laws placed 8th out of 71 athletes that competed in the 200m dash with a time of 22.24.  The time was the 8th fastest in Virgnia Union University outdoor track and field history.

Laws also recorded a time of 50.65 in the 400m dash, also the 8th fastest time in VUU history.

The 22.24 and 50.65 were the best times he ever ran.

We also had 4 other athletes that hit their PR on the 200 meter dash this past weekend.

Virginia Union's Kayle Lee made it to the finals of the 100 meter dash, the 7th fastest time in school history.

"The Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational meet was a great meet for us," said VUU Track & Field Coach Charles Franck.  "It really gave us a chance to see how amazing our teams can be as soon we get everyone healthy.   We still have a lot of work to do but, trust me, the work will get done. We will keep on working hard.  Now our focus is on getting ready for our next meet this weekend at Seahawk Invitational meet in St. Mary's Maryland at Jamie L Roberts Stadium.

VUU will next compete in the Seahawk Invitational, to be held on Saturday, April 1, at St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's City, Md.
