Virginia Union University's Robert Osborne scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as VUU downed Fairmont State University 66-64 in the opening round of the 2023 NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament on Saturday, March 11, in Indiana, Pa.

VUU's Raemaad Wright pulled down a team-high 16 rebounds while teammate Devon Sims scored 14 points in the game.

Virginia Union's Khalil Williams Diggins also scored 10 points in the win.

"It was an exciting basketball game and Fairmont State is a fantastic basketball team," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  "They're probably the best offensive team we've played all year.  We played them in December, and it was an overtime win, so we expected an exciting game.  I can't say enough about our seniors, Raemaad Wright, Devon Sims, Khalil Williams Diggins.  I said, from day one, we'll go as far as our seniors go, and our seniors stepped up tonight."

VUU will now face top-seed Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, in Indiana, Pa.
