Virginia Union University's women's basketball team, ranked eighth in the nation by HBCU GO, ran it's record to 7-1 as the Lady Panthers downed Augusta University 75-57 on Saturday, December 9, in Augusta, Ga.
VUU's
Ny Langley led the Lady Panthers with 27 points while teammate
Nevaeh Reaves had 23 points and nine rebounds in the win.
Virginia Union's
Bruni Martinez added 16 points in the game.
"We knew this would be a tough game against a nationally ranked Augusta team," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We executed our game plan magnificently and played as a team.
Bruni Martinez was the difference on both ends this game. Offensively
Ny Langley's 27 points and
Nevaeh Reaves 23 points really made it tough on Augusta's defense.
Rori Cox came in and brought some energy and a will to win. That stuff doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but it was huge for us today. We're really proud of our team for bringing home two victories on the road."
The Lady Panthers will now travel to Washington, D.C., to take on the undefeated (10-0) Firebirds of The University of the District of Columbia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12.
