Virginia Union University's
Rori Cox scored a season-high 20 points while grabbing six rebounds and three steals, but the University of the District of Columbia defeated the Lady Panthers 76-61 on Tuesday, December 12, in Washington, D.C.
VUU's
Hailey Blackwell scored 11 points while also stealing the ball three times in the game.
"UDC is in the Top 25 in the country, and this was a big test for us," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We had a terrible night offensively and dug ourselves in a hole the first half. We really fought in the third and fourth quarters, but with the deficit and a 36-21 foul differential called against us was something we couldn't recover from. This game will really test our resiliency as a team. We have to improve and bounce back by Thursday."
VUU now returns home to face Livingstone College at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
