Virginia Union University's
Jonathan Salazar scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but Johnson C. Smith University defeated the Panthers 68-60 on Saturday, December 16, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Travis Vaughn added 10 points for the Panthers in the game.
"We always talk about protecting our home court, and to lose in Barco in the last two games is very disappointing," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "I've been very impressed with
Jonathan Salazar the last two games with his effort on defense. He's also starting to give us some much-needed interior scoring. We will take this much needed Christmas break to refocus and to get back to playing Virginia Union brand of basketball."
VUU will now travel to Fairmont, W.V., to face Fairmont State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30.
