Virginia Union University's Kiara Shepherd grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as the Lady Panthers ran their record to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in the CIAA by downing Livingstone College 66-60 on Thursday, December 14, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU's Ny Langley scored 13 points while teammate Bruni Martinez added 12 points in the win.

"We were proud of the fight our team showed," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach Tierra Terry.  "We got down but never stopped trying to find a way to win. We couldn't get it going early offensively, but Ny Langley and Bruni Martinez stepped up late in the game. Freshman Tamyah Webb came in and gave valuable minutes as well. We had the will to win last night. We need to carry that into Saturday's game."

VUU will now face Johnson C. Smith University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
