Virginia Union University's
Rori Cox scored a season-high 19 points as the Lady Panthers defeated The Apprentice School 74-42 on Friday, December 1, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's
Kiara Shepherd added 13 points while both Cox and Shepherd had a team-high seven rebounds.
"This was a great team win and we bounced back from our last game," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry. "We had 13 assists and outrebounded them 49-26. This was a significant improvement from our last match-up. The Apprentice School always plays with heart, so they challenged us to be better tonight. We still have some improvements going into conference play but I'm very proud of
Rori Cox and
Kiara Shepherd's seven rebounds tonight. Rebounding shows heart. We will correct some things and prepare to hit the road."
Virginia Union is now 5-1 on the season and will travel to Orangeburg, S.C., to face Claflin University at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7.
