Alana Simmons had 17 kills while teammate
Ashlee Franklin had six service aces as the Lady Panthers downed Bowie State University 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-22 on Monday, October 9, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Franklin also had 34 assists while
Alaysia Miller had 20 defensive digs in the win.
"I'm proud that our ladies played hard for the home crowd," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Joe Sullivan. "They were able to get through some tough moments, working them out, and finishing with a much-needed win!"
VUU now travels to Elizabeth City, N.C., to compete in the second CIAA Volleyball Roundup. Union will face Claflin University on Saturday, October 14, and will then face Saint Augustine's University and Fayetteville State University on Sunday, October 15.
