Virginia Union University's Alana Simmons, a true freshman from Upper Marlboro, Md., who is majoring in Computer Information Systems, led the Lady Panthers with 11 kills, three service aces and 13 defensive digs, but Virginia State University defeated the Lady Panthers 25-19, 25-23, 25-14 on Thursday, October 26, in Petersburg, Va.
 
VUU's Jade Lane, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., who is majoring in Mass Communications,  had two blocks while teammate Ashlee Franklin, a sophomore from Stafford, Va., who is majoring in Social Work, had 21 assists in the match.
 
"It was another tough loss tonight; there's not much I can say other than we need to step up to challenges and finish," said VUU Head Volleyball Coach Joe Sullivan.
 
VUU will now travel to Bowie, Md., to take on Bowie State University at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30.
