Virginia Union University's
Robert Osborne led the Panthers with 27 points and eight rebounds, but Claflin University snapped the Panthers' 28-game home winning streak by defeating VUU 63-58 on Thursday, January 5, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
This was VUU's first loss in Barco-Stevens Hall since the season-opener of the 2019-20 season.
"I thought defensively we played much better than the last game, but we could never put it together offensively," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "We made too many mental mistakes down the stretch that cost us this game. We are in conference play now, so we have to bounce back on Saturday against the defending CIAA Champs Fayetteville State."
VUU will take to the court against the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
