Bowie State Sweeps Lady Panthers

Virginia Union University's Arianna Burford slammed a home run while pitcher Ericka Tiscareno struck out six in six innings of play, but Bowie State University swept the Lady Panthers 5-4 and 6-2 in a softball double-header on Saturday, April 9, at Panther Park in Richmond, Va.

In the first game, VUU's Brenda Reninga drove in two runs while Dominque Mulero struck out five over seven innings.

"These were two tough losses," said VUU Head Softball Coach Fred Burroughs.  "It was all just mental mistakes, and hopefully we'll bounce back tomorrow."

Virginia Union will face Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at Panther Park in Richmond, Va.
