Virginia Union University's
Darryn Zeigler scored a career-high 23 points, but Johnson C. Smith University defeated the Lady Panthers 70-59 on Wednesday, February 2, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
Zeigler started off hot, scoring 16 of her 23 points in the first half.
VUU's
Ny Langley added 13 points in the game while freshman
Ceanna Kinney grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
"JCSU is a very strong team that is on a seven-game win streak," said VUU Head Women's Basketball Coach
Tierra Terry.  "We had 20 turnovers to our 10 assists. We have to take better care of the ball and go back to playing team basketball on both ends like we did in our previous game. We have a big game to prepare for Saturday."
Virginia Union now faces Virginia State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
