Virginia Union University's
Robert Osborne scored a career-high 33 points, but Livingstone College upset the Panthers 101-92 in overtime on Monday, December 19, in Salisbury, N.C.
Osborne also led the Panthers with 11 rebounds in the game.
VUU's
Mahzi Thames scored a career-high 22 points while teammate
Tahj Harding added 12 points against the Blue Bears.
"I thought we were a step too slow tonight on defense and gave up too many points for us to pull this game out in overtime," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "Even with us playing bad defensively we had one stop in regulation to get and we couldn't secure the rebound that sent the game in overtime.  We will go back to work after Christmas and get ready for the second half of the season."
VUU will now return home to Barco-Stevens Hall to face Fairmont State University at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, in Richmond, Va.
