Virginia Union University's 4x400 relay team finished third at the Bast-Cregger Invitational, held on Saturday, December 10, in Salem, Va.
The team, consisting of
Jalen Hinton,
Marcus Phifer,
Christopher Laws and Luqman Ssengo finished the race with a time of 3:30.28.
VUU's Dequan Boone placed fifth in the Men's Shot Put with a throw of 13.64 meters while Phifer finished fifth in the Men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.28.
"I am certainly happy the way we performed shows that our team is coming along well," said VUU Head Track & Field Coach Franck Charles. "We just have to keep on working and everything will fall in place for us. Thank you to my coaching staff for all their hard work."
Virginia Union will now travel to Virginia Beach, Va., to compete in the VCU Indoor Invitational, to be held on Sunday, January 8.
