Virginia Union University's
Robert Osborne was a one-man wrecking crew in VUU's game against Claflin University on Wednesday, January 12, in Orangeburg, S.C.
Osborne scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Virginia Union downed the Panthers 74-56.
VUU's
Jordan Peebles also had seven rebounds to tie Osborne for game-high honors.
"This was a very good road win against a solid Claflin team," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "I thought it was another strong defensive performance and a total team effort to get the win. I thought
Robert Osborne was fantastic. He continues to give us that inside scoring and physical presence that we need in the post.  It was good to get
Darius Hines and
Khalil Williams-Diggins back with the team. They came off the bench and gave us some quality minutes on both ends of the court to help us extend the lead when Claflin tried to make a run."
The win raised Virginia Union's record to 10-3 overall as the Panthers stayed undefeated in CIAA play with a 3-0 record.
Claflin fell to 3-12 overall and 2-4 in the CIAA.
Virginia Union now travels to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15.
