Virginia Union University announced that the football program has signed nine players to National Letters of Intent on National Signing Day, Wednesday, February 3.
 
The Panthers signed six incoming freshmen and three tranfers.   Seven are from Virginia while there is one each from Georgia and South Carolina.
 
"Signing Day is an exciting time for every college football program, today has actually made things feel normal in a time where nothing is normal," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr. Alvin Parker.  We are extremely happy with our initial 2021 signing class.  Recruiting during a pandemic has definitely presented its challenges, but I want to applaud our staff for such a valiant effort. This class was extremely limited especially with NCAA rules allowing for an additional season of eligibility for current seniors.
 
"As usual we wanted to make sure we comb the state to fill some needs and we accomplished that with five of the six freshmen signees coming from our home state of Virginia. We did get a chance to sink our footprint into other areas and that lead us to signing one student-athlete from Georgia.   Our three mid-year enrollees are going to allow us some added depth and experience, and also give those guys a chance to compete during spring drill.   Today was just the initial signing date for us, we will continue recruiting and also put ourselves in a preparation mode for the Fall 2021 season."
