It marked the seventh straight year that the Lady Panthers won the home opener of the season.

Taniah Johnson scored 10 points apiece as the Lady Panthers evened their record at 1-1 on the seasosn.

Williams also led the Lady Panthers on the boards with seven rebounds.

Virginia Union's defense also ruled the day by forcing Chowan into 24 turnovers and holding the Hawks to just 28 percent shooting from the field.Â
