Virginia Union University's Terrell Leach scored 18 points while teammate Raemaad Wright pulled down eight rebounds, but Lincoln University of Pennsylvania hung on to defeat the Panthers 74-73, on Wednesday, January 15, in Lincoln University, Pa.
 
VUU's Jordan Peebles added 15 points while Tyriek Railey scored 13 points in the game.
 
"Another tough loss by one point on the road. We have to get better at closing games," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler.  "We talk before every game about winning the war on the boards, shooting 70 percent from the free throw line, and taking care of the basketball.  Down the stretch we gave up key offensive rebounds, missed crucial free throws, and turned the basketball over.  We continue to fight and we had our opportunities to win the game at the end but the ball is just not bouncing our way late in the game."
 
The loss dropped Virginia Union's record to 9-8 overall and 3-2 in the CIAA.  Lincoln is now 5-13 overall and 1-5 in the CIAA.
 
VUU now travels to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University in the 2019 Freedom Classic at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.
