Breonn Hughey had a career-high 16 points and seven assists as VUU downed Claflin University 72-63 in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, January 9, in Orangeburg, S.C.

Breonn Hughey, who came up big making play after play. She hit two big three-pointers, going 2-for-3 from behind the arc and 6-for-6 from the free throw line.Â
Peyton Evans continues to be solid. She led us in scoring with 17 points to go with three rebounds and three steals.Â
Jasmine Carter got a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds and three steals.Â
Dy'Manee Royal got off to an early start, scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds while
Shameka McNeill added seven points, three rebounds and three steals."

The win was the 10th straight for the sixth-ranked Lady Panthers, and raised VUU's record to 11-1. Claflin fell to 0-13 on the season.

Virginia Union now travels to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Winston-Salem State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11.
