VUU's
Tyriek Railey hit a jumper with 20 seconds left to give Virginia Union a 59-58 lead and then VUU's
Terrell Leach hit two free throws with six seconds left to preserve the win.
"This was a great team win tonight. Anytime you can hold a team like Fayetteville State to 58 points then that's great team defense," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Jay Butler. "Fayetteville is one of the top teams in the south and to give them their first loss of the season is a big win for our program. I thought we struggled offensively in the first half but we found ways to make plays downs the stretch in the second half to get the win.
Keshon Tabb shot the ball well and had a good all-around game leading us in rebounding, points, and assists.
Tyriek Railey came off the bench and knocked down some key shots late in the game."
Railey finished with a career-high 13 points while Leach scored 11 points. Tabb grabbed eight rebounds and dished off four assists.
The win raised VUU's record to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the CIAA. Fayetteville State fell to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.
