Khalid Morris hit
Hakeem Holland with a 29-yard touchdown pass with 2:22 left in the game to lift the Panthers to a 26-19 win over Elizabeth City State University on Saturday, November 2, at Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
"Our guys finished the game strong and I am very proud of them for this win," said VUU Head Football Coach Dr.
Alvin Parker. "The CIAA is an extremely tough conference and you have to be ready to play week in and week out. The guys have answered the bell and have responded well. Winning when you don't play your best is a trademark of great teams. This win will help us build and move forward."
Morris completed 15 of 28 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Â
Holland caught three passes for 51 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Â
VUU's
Tabyus Taylor carried the ball 29 times for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Virginia Union's
Elijah Johnson led the Panther defense with 10 tackles.
The win raised VUU's record to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in CIAA play. Â
Virginia Union will wrap up the 2019 regular season when the Panthers travel to Petersburg, Va., to face Virginia State University at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9.
