Virginia Union University's
Terrell Leach scored 30 points as the Panthers defeated Bowie State University 75-72 on Wednesday, January 23, in Bowie, Md.
The game marked the second time this month that Leach has scored 30 or more points for VUU. He scored 31 points against Shaw University on January 10.
"This was a big win for us on the road," said VUU Head Coach
Jay Butler. "Terrell played an outstanding game. He shot the ball extremely well."
VUU junior Will Jenkins also had a stellar performance. Jenkins scored 25 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in the win.
"He was huge tonight," said Butler. "The kids stayed together. They kept playing good defense, rebounded and got the stops we needed to get the win tonight."
VUU's
Eric Bowles dished out a team-high eight assists in the win.
The win raised Virginia Union's record to 10-8 overall and 6-2 in the CIAA. Bowie State fell to 11-9 overall and 7-2 in the CIAA.
