Virginia Union University's
Jordan White scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Panthers to a 92-71 win over Saint Augustine's University on Monday, January 14, in Raleigh, N.C.
Â
The win completed a three-game sweep of Shaw, Fayetteville State, and Saint Augustine's for VUU.
Â
"Our goal was to go 3-0 on this road trip and we completed the task," said VUU Head Coach
Jay Butler. "The guys are really starting to play well on both ends of the floor. We had four guys in double figures and we're spreading the scoring around amongst several players."
Â
VUU's Will Jenkins scored 18 points while
Raemaad Wright scored 12 points and led the Panthers with six rebounds.
Â
"
Jordan White shot the ball really well tonight and got us off to a good start early," said Butler. "Will Jenkins and
Raemaad Wright were solid inside scoring in the paint."
Â
VUU's
Terrell Leach added 11 points in the win.
Â
"
Terrell Leach is giving us that scoring off the bench that we've been looking for the first half of the season," said Butler. "Jemal smith and
Eric Bowles are doing a good job of running the team."
Â
The win raised VUU's record to 8-7 overall and 5-1 in the CIAA. Saint Augustine's fell to 4-11 overall and 1-6 in CIAA play.
Â
The Panthers now return home for a non-conference match-up against Bluefield State College at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
