Demarius Pitts scored 15 points while
Jemal Smith scored 10 points as three Panthers reached double-figures.

Virginia Union out-rebounded the Rams 36-32, and outscored Shepherd 40-22 in the paint. Shepherd, however, hit 11 three-pointers compared to VUU's three.

"We got off to a slow start and Shepherd jumped out on us and controlled the tempo the entire game," Head VUU Coach
Jay Butler said. "We struggled defensively tonight to get stops when we needed to. We need to be consistent on both ends to win games on the road."

Virginia Union now travels to St. Petersburg, Fla., to compete in the Eckerd College Thanksgiving Classic. VUU will play host Eckerd at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 23, and will then face the University of Tampa at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 24.
