Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Carter's Double-Double Leads VUU to Win

Virginia Union University's Jasmine Carter had 17 points and 18 rebounds to lead the 18th-ranked Lady Panthers to a 79-58 win over 11th-ranked Edinboro University on Saturday, November 10, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Carter had 10 defensive rebounds to go with eight offensive boards.

"I'm so excited for her," said VUU Head Coach AnnMarie Gilbert.  "The Edinboro coach stopped me before the game, said she was so impressed with (Carter's) improvement and that she feared what she could do tonight.  She really talked her up."

Virginia Union's Shareka McNeill scored 15 points while Nicole Floyd added 13 points.  Bianca Lockamy rounded out the double-figure scoring with 12 points.

The Lady Panthers' stellar defense forced Edinboro into 23 turnovers.

The win raised VUU's record to 2-0 while Edinboro fell to 1-1.

The Lady Panthers now hit the road.  VUU will meet Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C., at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17.
