Box Score Virginia Union University's Darius Taylor tossed two touchdown passes, but Bowie State University defeated VUU 40-22 on Saturday, October 21, in Bowie, Md.

Taylor completed 14 of 41 passes for 179 yards and rushed for 96 yards.  

Taylor's first scoring strike came when Panther quarterback hit Jewison Dawkins from five yards out in the third quarter.

The second TD pass from Taylor came he hit Aquil Harrow-Ingram with a 20-yard pass with 13:52 left in the game.

VUU's Lavatiae Kelly got in on the act with a 39-yard halfback pass to Chazton McKenzie in the third quarter.

The defense also got in on the scoring when Ray Lewis III picked up a blocked extra point, returned it to the 10, then fumbled the ball.  Virginia Union's Quantaye Battle picked it up in the end zone for a defensive PAT.

The loss dropped VUU to 5-3 on the season overall and 4-1 in CIAA play.  Bowie State is now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA.

The Panthers return to Hovey Field for the home finale of the 2017 season, which will also be Homecoming 2017, when VUU meets Elizabeth City State University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28.
