Box Score Virginia Union University's Damon Kelly scored a touchdown for the Panthers, but VUU lost to Bethune-Cookman University 66-7 in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday, September 7.

Kelly's touchdown came with 8:04 left in the second quarter and proved the only Panther score on the day.

Virginia Union was led in rushing by sophomore running back Eric Shaw, who garnered 65 yards on 14 carries.  Kelly finished the day with 41 yards on 19 carries.

VUU's sophomore quarterback Kenneth Graham completed seven of 14 passes for 43 yards.  Graham split time over center with redshirt freshman Shawheen Dowdy, who completed five of nine passes for 44 yards.

Virginia Union's Mantez Holmes caught four passes for 41 yards while sophomore Malcolm Norris returned four kicks for 104 yards.

On the defensive side, VUU's Joseph Blanks led the Panthers with 12 tackles and returned an interception for nine yards.

Freshman Willie Bailey had nine tackles, including a team-high five solo tackles.

VUU now returns home to face Shaw University at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, in Historic Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.
