Virginia Union University fought back from a 21-point deficit, but Elizabeth City State University was able to hang on for a 28-21 win over VUU on Saturday, November 2, in Historic Hovey Field in Richmond, Va.

The game was the home finale for Virginia Union in the 2013 football season.

VUU's Eric Shaw rushed for 149 yards on 20 carries while Damon Kelly and Terrance Malone both rushed for touchdowns.

Virginia Union's Kenneth Graham also rushed for a touchdown in the game.

VUU's Robert Jackson had 11 tackles for the Panthers.

The loss dropped VUU to 3-6 on the season and 3-3 in the CIAA.  Elizabeth City State raised it's record to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in the CIAA.

Virginia Union wraps up the 2013 football season when they travel to Petersburg, Va., to take on Virginia State University on Saturday, November 9.
